Meet John M. Teague

John M. Teague is a lifelong resident of Mobile, Alabama. He graduated from Murphy High School in 1995 and earned his Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the University of Mobile in 1999. He went on to receive his Juris Doctor from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 2003.

With more than two decades of legal experience, John’s practice focuses on domestic relations and family law, including divorce, custody, child support, post-divorce disputes, Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs), paternity, and juvenile matters. He also has experience handling appeals before Alabama’s appellate courts.

John is dedicated to helping families find fair, practical solutions that prioritize the well-being of any children involved in the case. Having personally experienced the stress of court proceedings, he approaches every case with empathy, transparency, and a commitment to keeping clients informed and supported throughout the legal process.

John is admitted to practice in all Alabama state courts and is a member of the Mississippi Bar, the Alabama State Bar, the Alabama State Bar Family Law Section, the Mobile Bar Association, and the Baldwin County Bar Association. He has served as President of Lifelines Counseling’s Board of Directors and has been actively involved in numerous community organizations, including the Mobile Jaycees and the Mobile Azalea Trail Board of Directors. He is a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Daphne, Alabama.

Outside of his legal practice, John enjoys spending time with his wife, Shellie, and their four children—Carson, Knox, Blue, and Sadie Byrd.
